Barcelona is a nightmare for many tourists.

The city if full of gangs who rob tourists. In my most recent visit I was robbed inside a train station.

On the same day, before I had a chance to get money, there was a second attempt to rob me. My daughter did not listen to me and went to Barcelona. Her friend was robbed and a bag with camera, money and documents was taken. It ruined their trip. My wife's sister did not listen to me and went to Barcelona.

They were robbed at the airport (only a passport was gone this time but it took two full days to get proper documents) and then robbed again with one family member losing all his money. Our best friends did not listen to my warnings and had their suitcase stolen from a car in Barcelona (while they were in the car; classical trick: "do you know you are missing air on this wheel?" and somebody snaps the case from the other side of the car).

Police in Barcelona has a lot of sympathy for tourists but for all I have seen, they have even more sympathy for the criminals. Don't go to Barcelona until the local government signficantly improved the safety of tourits.
